Undergraduate Overview

Residence Education for Michigan Housing has student staff positions which includes Community Center Assistant, Diversity Peer Educator, Traditional Resident Advisor, Theme Resident Advisor, and Michigan Learning Community Resident Advisor. Our communities range from traditional residence halls to Graduate and Undergraduate apartments.

2021-2022 UNDERGRADUATE RESSTAFF POSITIONS:

Overview:
Applications for the Resident Advisor (RA) and the Diversity Peer Education (DPE) positions are posted on the Undergraduate Student Positions page.

Please review the Eligibility Requirements for all ResStaff prior to submitting an application. Additional requirements are included within individual position descriptions.

Application:
You must submit a Resident Advisor 2021-2022 application if you are interested in any of the following positions: Traditional Resident Advisor, Theme Resident Advisor, and Michigan Learning Community Resident Advisor.

You must submit a Diversity Peer Educator 2021-2022 application if you are interested in the Diversity Peer Educator position.

If you are interested in any of the Resident Advisor positions and the Diversity Peer Educator position, you must submit both applications. 

Applications are submitted through eRezLife. You can find instructions at the How to Apply page.

You may preview the short essay questions within the application here. Note that there are additional informational questions you will be asked to answer in the application within eRezLife.

Applicants may be extended an interview invite. Interview invites will be sent on a rolling basis after the application is live and may continue after the application closes. Applicants should anticipate receiving an interview status update within one-week of the application closure date.

Interview:
If an applicant is extended an interview invite, interviews will occur virtually. Monitor your umich email account regarding updates from eRezLife. 

There is a separate interview process for each application. For example, if you have applied for both a Resident Advisor position and a Diversity Peer Educator position, you may be extended two interviews. 

If you have submitted an application for a Resident Advisor position and have indicated interest in a Michigans Learning Community position, you may be invited to a secondary interview by the Michigan Learning Community. As a reminder, submission of applications does not guarantee an interview invite.  

Additional Information/Resources:
It is highly recommended that you speak to a representative from the Office of Financial Aid prior to applying and interviewing for the position. The compensation for the position is room and board and may affect your personal financial aid. Information can be found on the Office of Financial Aid website.

If you are an International student, it is recommended that you connect with the International Center to learn about eligibility requirements. Information can be found on the International Center website.

2021-2022 COMMUNITY CENTER ASSISTANT (CCA) POSITION

We are reviewing applications for Spring/Summer 2021 terms and/or 2021-2022 academic year positions.

The priority deadline is 11:59 PM May 3, 2021. Application review, interviews, and hiring will be done on a rolling basis.

The anticipated start date for Spring/Summer CCA positions will be the end of May.

The anticpated start date for Fall/Winter 2021-2022 CCA positions will be in August. Training dates to be announced.
