Undergraduate Overview

Residence Education for Michigan Housing has student positions which include Community Center Assistant, Diversity Peer Educator, Traditional Resident Advisor, Theme Resident Advisor, and Michigan Learning Community Resident Advisor. Our communities range from traditional residence halls to Graduate and Undergraduate apartments.

2022-2023 UNDERGRADUATE RESIDENT ADVISOR (RA) POSITIONS:

OVERVIEW:

Applications for the Resident Advisor (RA) are posted on the Undergraduate Student Positions page.

Please review the Eligibility Requirements for all ResStaff prior to submitting an application. Additional requirements are included within individual position descriptions.

The 2022-2023 Resident Advisor (RA) Application is for the Winter 2022 semester and the 2022-2023 academic year (Fall 2022 and Winter 2023). Working during Winter 2022 is not a requirement and applicants will only be considered for a Winter 2022 RA position if they meet eligibility requirements and have indicated interest in the application. 

APPLICATION:

You must submit a Resident Advisor 2022-2023 application if you are interested in any of the following positions: Traditional Resident Advisor, Theme Resident Advisor, and Michigan Learning Community Resident Advisor.

Applications are submitted through eRezLife. You can find instructions at the How to Apply page.

Interview invites will be sent on a rolling basis after October 27th and may continue after November 3rd. Applicants will have 2 business days to sign up for a 30 minute interview time slot. Interviews will be conducted virtually. Not all applicants will be extended an interview and all applicants should anticipate receiving a status update within one-week of the application closure date.

Final position status updates will be sent out on a rolling basis starting the second week of December. Status updates will continue throughout the month of December and may continue in the beginning of January.

Interview:

If an applicant is extended an interview invite, interviews will occur virtually. Interviews will occur during the month of November, Monday through Friday between 9 AM EST and 5 PM EST. Monitor your umich email account regarding updates from eRezLife. 

If you have submitted an application for a Resident Advisor position and have indicated interest in a Michigan Learning Community (MLC) position, you may be invited to a secondary interview by the Michigan Learning Community. The MLC interviews will occur between the middle of November and beginning of December. As a reminder, submission of applications or a first round interview does not guarantee an MLC interview invite.  

Note: An interview invite does not guarantee a position. We ask that you await for a status update regarding interview invitations and final decisions post interviews as inquiries can further delay the process. 

Additional Information/Resources:

It is highly recommended that you speak to a representative from the Office of Financial Aid prior to applying and interviewing for the position. The compensation for the position is room and board and may affect your personal financial aid. Information can be found on the Office of Financial Aid website.

Question and Answer (Q&A) Session:

You will have the opportunity to ask questions of current Resident Advisors about their experience as well as full-time staff questions you may have about the selection process. Prior to attending the session, we encourage you to review information about the process on this page.

Thursday, October 28th – 6 PM to 7 PM EST via zoom. Click here to access the zoom link. You can drop in at any point during that time.

This Q&A session is optional.  Attendance at this session is NOT required in order to apply for the RA position.

2021-2022 COMMUNITY CENTER ASSISTANT (CCA) POSITION

Overview:
The CCA application is currently open and we are now reviewing applications for the 2021-2022 academic year. Application review, interviews, and hiring will be done on a rolling basis.

Please review the position description and eligibility requirements prior to submitting an application. Applicants must successfully background check prior to the start of the position.
