Residence Education for Michigan Housing has student positions which include ResStaff Coordinator, LEAPS Resident Advisor, Traditional Resident Advisor, Theme Resident Advisor, and Michigan Learning Community Resident Advisor. Our positions support communities in traditional residence halls and apartments in Ann Arbor and Detroit.

2027-2028 UNDERGRADUATE RESIDENT ADVISOR (RA) POSITIONS:
OVERVIEW
The application for the Resident Advisor (RA) positions will be posted on the Undergraduate Student Positions page on September 29, 2026.
Please review the Eligibility Requirements for all ResStaff prior to submitting an application. Additional requirements are included within individual position descriptions.

Appointment Start and Move In Dates/Times:
- Michigan Learning Community Resident Advisors, Theme Community Resident Advisors, and ResStaff Coordinators – Wednesday, August 11, 2027 from 9:00AM to 12:00PM
- Traditional Resident Advisors – Sunday, August 15, 2027 from 9:00AM to 12:00PM
August Training: Training continues until the start of Michigan Housing Early Move-In. Attendance at all training sessions is required and in-person. Training will typically run from 8:00AM – 5:00PM each day.
- Michigan Learning Community Resident Advisors, Theme Community Resident Advisors, and ResStaff Coordinators – Wednesday, August 11 , 2027 at 1:00PM
- Traditional Resident Advisors – Sunday, August 15, 2027 at 1:00PM
Monday Night Meetings begin:
- Monday, August 30, 2027. Attendance to all Monday Night Meetings is required from 6:00PM to 8:00PM.
January Training:
- ResStaff Move-In: Sunday, January 9, 2028 from 9:00AM to 12:00PM
- ResStaff Training: Monday, January 10, 2028 from 9:00AM to 5:00PM
Important Break Information and Dates:
- August 15, 2027 – August 29, 2027: ResStaff will support Michigan Housing Move-In including Early Move-In
- December 20, 2027: Fall term Closing. Please do not make flight/travel arrangements or other plans until after the closing end date and time. ResStaff will need to vacate their assignment by 12:00PM, December 22, 2026.
- May 7, 2028: Winter term Closing. ResStaff will assist through the day with Closing until 5:00PM on May 7, 2028. Please do not make flight/travel arrangements or other plans until after your appointment end date and time. ResStaff will need to vacate their assignment by 12:00PM, May 8, 2028.

You must submit a 2027-2028 RA application if you are interested in any of the following positions: ResStaff Coordinator, LEAPS Resident Advisor, Traditional Resident Advisor, Theme Resident Advisor, and Michigan Learning Community Resident Advisor.

INTERVIEWS AND STATUS UPDATES
Interview invites will be sent on a rolling basis after the application closure date of October 13, 2026. If an applicant is extended an interview invite, applicants will have 2-3 business days to sign up for a 30 minute virtual interview time slot upon receiving an interview invite. Interviews will occur Monday through Friday between 9 AM and 5 PM. Monitor your U of M email account regarding updates.
If you have submitted an application for a Resident Advisor position and have indicated interest in a Theme RA or Michigan Learning Community (MLC) RA position, you may be invited to a secondary interview by the Michigan Learning Community or Theme Community team. As a reminder, submission of applications or a first round interview does not guarantee an MLC or Theme RA interview invite. Monitor your U of M email account regarding updates for any second round interview invites.
Final position status updates will be sent out beginning in mid-December 2026 and will continue into the Winter 2027 term.
Note: An interview invite does not guarantee a position. We ask that you await for a status update regarding interview invitations and final decisions post interviews as inquiries can further delay the process.
